Help make October 20th National Reuse Day

Our partners at Reuse Alliance have created a petition to send to the US Senate Committee on the Environment to make October 20th National Reuse Day. From their website:

The purpose of National Reuse Day will be to promote the social, environmental and economic benefits of reuse and encourage more people to join the movement toward creating a cleaner environment and a greener economy.

National Reuse Day will be the only nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging Americans to buy, use or donate reusable, reclaimed and remanufactured products. Having a national day will help encourage millions of Americans to improve their reuse habits at home, school and work.

Through National Reuse Day, the Reuse Alliance will support local communities and raise awareness by educating citizens about the benefits of reuse. We hope that on every October 20th everyone will become better informed about the importance of reuse.

Our staff, our member organizations, our donors, our volunteers, and our students understand the vast benefits of reuse, and we can only hope that this knowledge will spread. And over the years, it has. As the largest supplier of art materials to NYC public schools, and as a lifeline to many nonprofit arts organizations, we know that “reuse” is not just a buzz word for the environmental movement. It is cost-effective, low-impact, and life-saving. Reuse deserves to be part of every person’s life.
