Cinder block planter bar

If you follow us on Twitter, then you already know that we received a donation of cinder blocks recently. What you may not already know is this great idea on how to reuse them (beyond those classy brick and board shelving units some of us enjoyed during our college years!) featured on Design*Sponge yesterday.

It’s a planter AND a bar! According to the designer, the materials cost about $50 (and 2 days time) but if you resused old cinder blocks and a piece of wood, it would be even less. It’s such a cool and modern look too – perfect for an outdoor party or fundraiser (if you are lucky enough to have outdoor space – a coveted rarity in New York City!).

If drinking isn’t your thing, you can use the same concept to make just the planter part, as the folks over at Apartment Therapy did. Great for any community garden or communal space for your organization.

The cinder blocks are still available in the warehouse – come and get ’em!
