Post-Apocalyptic Embroidery: Not Your Grandma’s Craft Circle (free workshop)

Web Graphic Embroidery with Aliya Bonar

Learn the traditional art of embroidery in today’s high-tech world though the communication medium we know best– text messages.

In this two hour workshop, we will learn how to sew basic embroidery stitches. Then, using this distinctly slow and analog technique, you will glorify and immortalize one of your favorite text messages or a quote or mantra of your choosing. You will embroider your messages onto a pillow, one of your own garments brought in, or a piece of fabric. Using the wealth of non-traditional supplies in the MFTA warehouse, you create and take home an embroidery made literally with the excess and remnants of our modern city.

Light refreshments will be served.
