Spring 2013 Art Workshops

Learn to excite students and families through art while engaging everyone in hands-on learning! During these studio workshops, participants learn art projects that can be easily and inexpensively realized at schools and community centers.

SERIES DISCOUNT: The four workshops below can be taken at a discount as a 10-hour PD course, which is aligned to NYCDOE Arts Blueprint and NYS School-Age Child Care Training Requirements. Series fee: $30, click here to enroll.

Paper Quilts Workshop Tues., Jan. 29, 10 am – 12:30 pm

Explore basic quilt patterns and the rich history of quilting, with a special focus on African-American quilters for Black History Month, while learning to create paper quilts at your site without special tools or equipment. Fee: $10. Register here

Eco-Sculptures and Games Tues., Mar. 5, 10 am – 12:30 pm

Eco Sculpture WebsiteInvestigate science topics related to Earth Day through games and art. Learn techniques to turn “trash” contributed by students and families into Assemblage Sculptures and games. Fee: $10. Register here

Celebrate National Poetry Month by learning to use everyday office supplies for a variety of bookbinding techniques that excite students and families about learning and literacy. Fee: $10. Register here

Wow audiences by using free MFTA supplies for your performances and assemblies! Learn to make basic costumes without sewing, and see how you can use unconventional MFTA supplies to make your productions special. Fee: $10. Register here
