City Year helps us out

Have you noticed that our hallways are looking a little bit brighter? You can thank City Year for that! On Friday, October 5, City Year corps members from almost a dozen public schools in Harlem, East New York, Long Island City, and the South Bronx came to MFTA for a workshop and some volunteer work. After a tour of the warehouse, the 22 corps members learned how to make booklets out of paper. Many corps members planned to take this project back to their classrooms, extracurricular clubs, and school activities. Following the workshop, half of the group headed into the warehouse, where they did a great job detangling and tying up huge knots of trim. The other half added some fresh, bright stripes to our hallway walls. Service projects like this are a key component of City Year’s program.

We are proud to have worked with corps members over the years and even more proud to have provided the organization with materials since 2006. Look out for City Year corps members who will be helping us out at Masked Marvelous next Tuesday!
