Fall Art of Reuse Workshop Series for community-based educators

10-hour Professional Development Series for Community-based Educators

Learn to make a variety of art projects by creatively reusing items from the recycling bin and free supplies from Materials for the Arts. During this 10-hour professional development series participants create their own art projects with guidance from Master Teaching Artist Joy Suarez. Workshop content is aligned to NYC DOE Arts Blueprint and NYS School-Age Child Care Training Requirements.

MFTA recipients can schedule 12:30 pm appointments to gather supplies after this workshop.

These workshops are free for NYCDOE Parent Coordinators, Assistant Principals, and Arts Liaisons. Email education@mfta.nyc.gov or call 718-729-2165 to enroll.

Costumes and Masks Workshop

Tuesday, October 9, 10 am – 12:30 pm

Learn to create a variety of costumes in time for fall festivities and performances without sewing or specialized tools!

Single Workshop Fee: $18

 

Shadow Puppetry Workshop

Tuesday, November 13, 10 am – 12:30 pm

Learn basic shadow puppetry techniques and construct puppets, props, and sets using recyclables and MFTA supplies. Workshop Single Workshop Fee: $18

 

Holiday Gifts Workshop

Tuesday, December 4, 10 am – 12:30 pm

Use shaving cream, wire, and fabulous MFTA paper to create handmade holiday cards, decorations, jewelry, and other gifts for the holidays. Single Workshop Fee: $18

 

Instrument Making Workshop

Tuesday, January 8, 10 am – 12:30 pm

Bring the magic of music to your site! Learn to construct a variety of percussion instruments and simple stringed instruments using recyclables and MFTA supplies.

Single Workshop Fee: $18
