Last Friday we hosted our fourth Lunch + Learn at the MFTA warehouse for our materials donors. Donors from Arrows Up, Wallauer’s, Marc Jacobs, Film Biz Recycling, and Aronson’s Floor Covering all visited and toured the warehouse. While many of these donors have been donating to MFTA for years, many of them had never stepped foot in the MFTA warehouse before. Lunch + Learns give donors a chance to see the warehouse and get a better idea of what happens to their donations after they leave their truck our warehouse.
MFTA wouldn’t be what it is today (actually we wouldn’t be anything) without the thousands of NYC businesses and individuals who donate everything from fabric and paint to movie sets and floor coverings each year. In 2012 so far, MFTA has already taken in 1,558 donations from 1,037 donors, for a total of 701,935 pounds of materials. We were so happy to meet all of the donors who came out on Friday, and we even had a chance to snap a few photos of a few of them posing with their donations on the warehouse floor!
Wallauer’s is a paint and decorating center with ten locations throughout Westchester and Putnam County. Since 1995, Wallauer’s has donated over 6,500 cans of paint, as well as blinds, wallpaper, and other hardware to MFTA. We got a shot of Ray, General Manager of Wallauer’s, posing with a can of paint in our paint room. Thank you Ray and Wallauer’s for all your donations over the years!
If you have visited the warehouse recently, you might have been lucky enough to score a roll of some of the beautiful fabric donated by Marc Jacobs. Since 1997, Marc Jacobs has donated close to 40,000
pounds of fabric, buttons, zippers, various trims, and more! Noha and Caroline from Marc Jacobs visited on Friday as well, and we snapped this photo of them posing in the fabric section, where many of their donations reside.
