Going green with the Durst Organization

City & State has a great article today about the Durst Organization and their efforts to green their offices by recycling, reusing, and composting.  The article follows the journey of one Starbucks coffee cup collected from an office in the new Bank of America Tower where the Durst Family has their offices.  The LEED-certified building was designed by sustainable design firm and MFTA donor Cook + Fox.  Once collected, the cup travels to a transfer station in Queens for sorting and onto a ship sailing for China, where it will be recycled and remade into a cardboard box.

The Durst Organization has been a donor and supporter of the work of MFTA and has long been committed to energy efficiency and waste reduction.  They even have their own composting site two hours north of the city!  We are so happy to be working with both Helena Durst and Anita Durst, founder of Chashama, an MFTA recipient.

Take a look at this great article.
