See MFTA items come to life in this slideshow

One of our recipient artists, Adel Kerpely, of Chashama, sent us a slideshow of how she turned MFTA materials into an art piece for FIGMENT NYC on Governors Island. Be sure to turn on the comments for the slideshow. It’s really cute!

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The funniest part about this is that I went to Governors Island with some friends a few weeks ago and we actually did this activity, though I had no idea that this piece and almost all of the others were made with items from the warehouse. Here is the GIF we made:

The whole installation, including the minigolf, is a total blast, and I definitely recommend it to everyone. It’s an amazing demonstration of the diverse projects that can be made with repurposed materials. It’s also a lot of fun! If you’ve made your own GIFs, please share them in the comment section.

As always, we are looking to highlight more ways our recipients use the materials they obtain through us. You are all very creative, and we’d love to demonstrate this creativity to those who doubt reuse, and to those who wish to be inspired. Please send any submissions to me, Kevin Stirnweis, at kstirnweis@mfta.nyc.gov.
