Next Wednesday, May 18th, is the 2011 International Special Events Society NYC’s Sustainability Forum and Marketplace. Materials for the Arts is going to be there, so you should be there too! The event will educate and inspire event planners on ways to be more environmentally-conscious, and it will highlight ways NYC-based planners can be sustainable and local. Visitors can stop by the MFTA Upcycle Booth to make dynamic weavings on empty CD cases by using ribbon scraps and rubber bands. The weavings will join those created by NYC DOE students and will be assembled into a giant “quilt” that will be on display through the event. There is a huge list of other vendors, and the whole event is sure to be informative, creative, and fun.
