There’s an interesting story floating around the NYC blogosphere this morning, involving local artist VH McKenzie’s use of old subway cards. This comes a few days after a different story about the repurposing of those same items last week. Which, in turn, came a few days after the awesome Single Fare 2 show closed.
We here at Materials for the Arts think it’s wonderful that people are reusing their subway cards and keeping them out of the waste stream. It’s a shame that so many of these cards are tossed away every month, sometimes not even into trash cans but rather on platforms, around the turnstyles, and on the streets. These artists are cleaning up our city, reusing materials, and making beautiful art. Check out the links for some serious inspiration.
