The stunning photograph is from J. Henry Fair’s book The Day After Tomorrow: Images of Our Earth in Crisis which is due out from powerHouse books in mid-February.

New Yorkers have two chances to view Mr. Fair’s work. A show at Gerald Peters Gallery on the Upper East Side features at least 28 of these stunning but disturbing works through February 11.  An exhibition of these works “Landscapes of Extraction: The Collateral Damage of the Fossil Fuels Industries” opens January 20th and will be on view through February 26th at Arthur A. Houghton Jr. Gallery, the Cooper Union.
