Speaking of fun projects, some of you may already be aware of this, but we have been playing some music from local bands the past few months interspersed between other tunes for our recipients. We’ve had work donated from recipient groups like Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Arete Living Arts Center, and Art Loisaida Foundation. We’ve been really impressed with the quality so far, and would love to expand our selection. We’re open to any type of music as long as it is appropriate (no swearing, no sexism, no homophobia, etc.). The work does not have to be from recipient groups, and submissions are open to anyone and any group located in and around New York City. Submissions can be dropped off any Monday, Wednesday, or Friday between 9am and 3:30pm, or mailed to:

In other music news, you probably have noticed the distribution box donated by recipient Showpaper at the front of the warehouse. Showpaper publishes a biweekly listing of local, independent shows around the City, many of which take place at recipient locations like Death By Audio. I’ve personally been using Showpaper for a while, and they list some great acts I would have never known about otherwise. Be sure to grab one next time you come to the warehouse.

I have been working on a series of mixes featuring bands from the national DIY music community for you to play over there. One for every day of the week!
Awesome, I’m looking forward to them.
